I am running for a seat on the school board because I want to give back to our community. These unprecedented times and the dismal response from the current school board have opened my eyes to the importance of leadership.

Without strong leadership, organizations cannot thrive. We have to listen to and really hear the needs of our community – teachers, staff, parents and students.

I am a 16-year resident of this community. Rather than continuing to watch this situation unfold from the sidelines, I have decided to devote my time and energy to serve this district.

My personal life affords me the ability to make this commitment a top priority.

Fiscal Responsibility

So many people feel our district’s spending is already out of control. In January, the current school board began discussing yet another tax referendum — one month after they voted in the highest tax increase in the history of District 158!

Especially in this economy, this endless cycle of overtaxing and overspending must be brought under control.

Academic Focus

Numerous parents and students have expressed that the district’s focus on academics is being lost to agenda-driven curriculum and politically-charged views. I am committed to seeking out ways to put education first again.

We need to return to a strong focus on core academic subjects and courses that will truly set children on a successful path in life.
